What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Unless, of course, you injure the beloved flamingo residents of the Strip’s Flamingo Hotel and Casino. That will follow you wherever you go.
ABC affiliate KTNV reports that a Canadian tourist named Mitchell Fairbarn broke into the hotel’s famed flamingo habitat and allegedly grabbed the birds.
“Fairbarn is seen laughing in the [surveillance] video and says ‘I’m taking it home’ as he walks back to his room,” the police report reads.
If you’re wondering what kind of person would harm innocent flamingos, it’s apparently the same type of person who would commit a crime with a tattoo of their last name in full view.
According to police, surveillance video shows “a big ‘Fairbarn’ tattoo on his upper back.”
Fairbarn faces four counts of animal abuse-related charges.
The hotel tells KTNV that the flamingos are “currently in the care of dedicated veterinarians and our extraordinary Flamingo animal care team.”
“We remain hopeful they will make a full recovery,” the statement adds.
