After finding bathroom attendant Onetta Johnson asleep at 2:30 AM following the 1983 Grammys, Donna Summer felt immense compassion, listened to her story about working multiple jobs, and was inspired to write the hit song “She Works Hard for the Money”. Summer wrote the lyrics on a paper towel/valet ticket, included Onetta’s name in the lyrics, and featured her on the album cover.
