Thomas Branigan Memorial Library will change its hours beginning July 1 because of budget reductions in the city’s fiscal year 2026-2027 budget, Las Cruces Public Libraries announced. The story continues from our news partners at Organ Mountain News,
Beginning July 1, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed Sunday.
Library officials said the change is due in part to budget reductions in the City of Las Cruces budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The city said the schedule change also will allow staff and resources to be realigned.
The Friends of the Thomas Branigan Library are contributing funding toward security costs for evening hours Monday through Thursday and supporting the cost of opening one hour earlier on Fridays and Saturdays.
Las Cruces Public Libraries said patrons can still access digital resources outside library hours with a library card, including eBooks, audiobooks and magazines through Libby.
Library programs and events are available at LasCruces.gov/Library.
