City, county and state health offices will close or adjust schedules Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
City of Las Cruces
Most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Friday, June 19. Emergency services, including police and fire, will operate as usual.
City offices and facilities closed for the holiday include City Hall, A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, the Youth Development and Diversion Program, East Mesa Recreation Center, Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and its branch libraries, all museums, all Senior Programs services and facilities, South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices, Visit Las Cruces and Roadrunner Transit administrative offices.
Solid waste commercial and residential services will operate as usual. South Central Solid Waste curbside collection services for commercial and residential customers will also operate with regular hours.
Foothills Landfill will be open with regular business hours. Corralitos Landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Amador Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Doña Ana collection sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Roadrunner Transit fixed route service and Vamonos will operate on a normal schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., though the administrative office will be closed.
Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. for open gym. The Regional Aquatic Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the Natatorium will be open from 6 to 11 a.m.
Laabs Pool will be open from noon to 3 p.m. East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool will offer two open swim sessions: noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Rio Grande Theatre and other locations will host Juneteenth-related events on various dates.
Doña Ana County
Doña Ana County offices will be closed Friday, June 19, for Juneteenth.
Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected. However, administrative offices for the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, Detention Center and Fire Rescue will also be closed.
County offices will reopen and resume regular business hours at 8 a.m. Monday, June 22.
New Mexico Department of Health
State public health offices and New Mexico Department of Health administrative offices will be closed Friday, June 19.
NMDOH offices will reopen as regularly scheduled Monday, June 22.
The NMDOH Helpline will remain available during regular business hours, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Juneteenth. The helpline can be reached at 1-833-SWNURSE, or 1-833-796-8773.
The helpline is staffed by nurses who can speak in English and Spanish about health questions, health care connections and provider support. The helpline can also help residents check vaccination records and assist with vaccine scheduling for adults and children.
